Kinzie Industrial Corridor Redevelopment Plan

Home to over 600 businesses and 15,000 jobs, this square-mile industrial area of Chicago is a key component of the city's economy. It is also located close to the center of the city, and is coming under residential loft redevelopment pressure. The City retained Camiros to formulate plans and implementation programs to assure the area's continued economic viability and to protect the industrial investments planned and in place. To this end, Camiros established a redevelopment plan and developed a Tax Increment Finance District to finance needed improvements. The firm also drafted a new Planned Manufacturing District, a form of zoning which protects industrial development from residential incursion, to help ensure its economic viability.
