Schaumburg, Illinois Managing the Growth of Schaumburg: Comprehensive Economic Development Plan
This plan was produced to help guide long range economic and land use decision making in this major Chicago area Edge City. The plan included forecasts of population and employment growth, related land and space demands, and resulting fiscal impacts upon the municipality for the twenty year period 1980 -2000. The focus of the effort was in the three primary non-residential areas of the community - the Woodfield Regional Center, Schaumburg Road Corridor and Irving Park-Wise Road Center.
The plan investigated and forecast changing type and cost of service patterns as the community grew from approximately 40,000 to an estimated 75,000 population during this period. In addition to fiscal and employment impact findings, the plan provided policy guidance in the areas of capital improvements, regulatory and operational services. It continues to be used as the basis of the community's long range plan.
